ICT as Medium for Advocacy

 

ICT is a fundamental and an inescapable way to perform significant task in adjusting and modernizing present educational frameworks and the method of learning. Not just in education, it is a significant part of several aspects in our every day lives.With the fast and proceeding with changes in the manner that individuals share, use, create, and discuss. ICT helps us in utilizing computerized innovation and communication tools to create, manage, evaluate, and access information in order to function and communicate in a knowledge society. 

ICT in the field of education is comprehensively classified as an instrument that guides in PC based learning, research and presentation. It serves in as an authoritative instrument that is valuable in administration of data systems. 

1. How information and Communications and Technology (ICT) has transformed the educational methodologies when you were in grade school and now in Senior High School?

Before, when I was in grade school, technologies were not that evolving. When we have the presentation in school, we used manila paper and markers to write all of our works, and if it is our time to present, we will go to the front and discuss the work that we made. Also, when we have assignments, we rely more upon the book and we will get help from our parents because we don't have much idea about our topics. Life before without the internet was too hassle but fun at the same time because I can interact with my family easily if I have a problem with my academics. Now, as an SHS student, I can say that my education is more advance. With the use of the internet and other technologies, I performed well, and it helps me when I have difficulties in answering my modules. The ICT today is more advance because we can search easily, gain some information, and we can learn. 

2. Consider the following comparison.

a. The singing of the national anthem (From a line, sing the national anthem with conductor)

Before, the concept of singing the national anthem was full of sincerity. We sing it from the heart and we sing it in an acapella way. When I was in Grade 11, there are times that we just used visual aids or a sound and we're just putting out arms across our chest. Now in Grade 12, since it is pandemic and we can't interact with others. We are in modular learning so we don't sing the national anthem. There is a really big difference between before and now.  

b. Concepts Notes

Before, I am the type of student that loves writing. So when our teacher writes something on the blackboard, I copied it immediately. Now, since the technology is improving, I have a cellphone already and most teachers right now don't utilize blackboard because they have their presentation that will be presented on their laptops. Every time our teachers present their lessons, I just take a picture of it. 

c. Presentations of visual aids

We used manila paper or Carolina before when we present, discuss or report a lesson for my classmates and teachers. But now, we rely more upon using PowerPoint presentation multimedia because it is easy to access and we can use it correctly. It is also more formal.

d. Class record

Teachers have this class record book and they use a pen for recording the student's score. But now, they compute their grades with the use of a laptop. 

e. Class Dismissal

Class dismissal before and now are just the same thing. We have this bell that will ring every end of the lesson. 

f. assignment and research

Before we will go to the library and borrowed some books for searching for the answers for our assignment.  But today, it is just easy to click on Google and research some articles, and browse some lessons online. 

There is a huge difference before and today. In today's world, it is more convenient and easy to access. There is a big impact in ICT today and we can see it now. 

Impact of Multimedia

In the world of today, multimedia has become nearly as important as food, shelter, and clothes. The facts confirm that multimedia is assuming a remarkable part in strengthening  the society. Its obligation is to advise, instruct and engage individuals. It assists us with knowing current situation all throughout the world. The multimedia has a solid effect upon society. Because of its inherent ability to reach large number of public, it is widely used to convey message to build public opinion and awareness.

MEANING OF MULTIMEDIA

Multimedia is the use of a computer to present and combine text, graphics, audio, and video with links and tools that let the user navigate, interact, create, and communicate. This definition contains four components essential to multimedia. This definition contains four segments crucial for media. In the first place, there should be a PC to arrange what you see and hear, and to connect with. Second, there should be joins that associate the data. Third, there should be navigational devices that let you cross the trap of associated data. Finally, because multimedia is not a spectator sport, there must be ways for you to gather, process, and communicate your own information and ideas.

Now, I will show you my works that use multimedia, and to be honest, I am not a pro like others. I was just practicing and I want to learn and engage myself with this kind of pieces of stuff.  I know that in the future, I can also utilize the types of multimedia. 

Lightroom highlights a variety of devices for preparing and putting away countless picture documents, making it more effective for the individuals who alter numerous photographs without a moment's delay. It also upholds raw picture documents, which is advantageous for altering uncompressed pictures prior to exporting them. 

In this photo, what I did to make it more presentable is that I used many tools.  I adjust the exposure, shadow, contrast, temperature, color, etc. I crop it because it was rectangular and there are many inappropriate things. The outcome was this, and to be honest, it was so different from the original picture. That is why it is essential to use multimedia just like this editor to make a photo more convincing and attractive to watch.

This was the video that I edited last March 2021. It is our project on one of the subjects and I used the editor Adobe Premiere. This editor was just new for me because I have this classmate who recommended me with this. After all, he said that it was good and it has no watermark. I download and install it. I practice all the points and as the day passed, I already manage to control the points.  I already know the other techniques, ideas, and the concept behind it and the outcome is this. I can say that it is a good multimedia platform because it helps me in my output. 

This was my presentation in Araling Panlipunan when I was in Grade 10. I used a lot of techniques to make my presentation convincing to the audience. I applied some effects and animation on it so that it has an impact. Since I am a student, I used PowerPoint presentations for our projects, research defense, and presentations in school by group or individually. I can say that this multimedia helps me in all my works because it is easy for me to access. Every time I present, a PowerPoint presentation serves as my guide in every journey in my life every time I present something to a crowd of people.  Nowadays, many people including teachers, business owners, students, etc. used it to showcase their output in front of other people and it is a good thing because we all know that it helps us in anything. Making your presentation more interesting through the use of multimedia can help to improve the audience's focus. 

The significance of multimedia in society is growing every day. It is already part of our life because most of us utilize it. Multimedia gives many benefits and help each one of us solve about our educational or business issue in the learning process. Multimedia also can motivate everyone to show our effort and interest to improve our skill learning. It has a big impact on society because it gives a lot of satisfaction in which makes people rely more upon using multimedia. We all know how important it right? We should use it appropriately and we can share it with our fellow people so that they will be able to learn and express themselves in making creative work with the use of this platform. 

Why incoming SHS students must choose Academic Track

The senior high school offers specializations where various tracks and strands are accessible. This makes it simpler for a student to adjust in new environment once they move on from Senior High School. The tracks that available are Academic Track, Arts & Design Track, Sports Track, and Technical Vocational Livelihood Track. But a lot of people are wondering on what benefits can students get from Senior High School. How can it help students prepare better for college? How can it help students get jobs? How can it help students select the careers they will embark on? 

First and foremost, for the tracks mentioned above, the one that I will recommend the most is the Academic Track. Why? It is because this is one where I belong. I am a STEM student and I will tell you that it was the best so far. Being in this field is a good opportunity because I was able to engage in many activities and learning. This strand helps me in everything. Before, when I was still in my junior high school year, I was so confused about what will be the course that I will take in college. I searched the four tracks in SHS and I was convinced with the academic track in the STEM strand. Now, I was in my second year being in this strand and it was kinda hard but I was so thankful that I am part of this field. Choosing an academic track means I am looking forward to going to college. This track will help you and me to prepare for the subject specialization of the college course you will take in the future. But it is up to if what strand would you take as long as you will engage in this track because I know that you will love and like this domain. 

What is Academic Track? 

The academic track is simply the track that prepares students for the most common college courses such as business management, engineering, and the sciences. Upon choosing the academic track, students can choose from four different strands: General Academic; Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics; Accountancy, Business, and Management; and Humanities and Social Sciences. I will explain each strand to make the incoming SHS students enhance their minds and they can think properly on what track or strand that they wanted to pursue in Senior High School.

STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM is important because it pervades every part of our lives. Science is everywhere in the world around us. Technology is continuously expanding into every aspect of our lives. Engineering is the basic designs of roads and bridges, but also tackles the challenges of changing global weather and environmentally-friendly changes to our home. Mathematics is in every occupation, every activity we do in our lives.

The following are the possible jobs for STEM student:

Medical doctors, Dentists, Health Care Professionals, Engineers, Scientists, Agriculture, Statisticians, Architects, Computer Technicians, Welders, Machinists, Manufacturing Technologists, and Electricians.

ABM is that it offers students the opportunity to undertake work placements and professional projects. Being an ABM students, you need to learn on how to manage your time, to have a long patience and to concentrate and focus on your studies. In ABM, you can explore more, you will learn more on how to manage your own business. You will have a knowledge on what business are you going to start with and how will you run your business.

This strand is for the students who likes, business, numbers, marketing and management. The following are the possible jobs for ABM students:

Marketing Manager, Sales Manager, Project Manager, Assistant Manager, Human resources Manager, Director Of Sales, General Manager, District Manager, Accountant, Staff Accountant, Bookkeeper, Accounting Manager, Accounting Clerk, Tax Manager, Internal auditor, and Accounts Payable Clerk.

 HUMSS develop the needed knowledge and skills in bringing about positive change through the study of social science theories and concepts, community-based realities, study of culture, society and politics, discussion on moral issues. Using varied mediums of human interaction, students in HUMSS likewise develop their communicative competence in the use of English and Filipino languages as they are expected to produce literary, research-based, performance-based, academic and digital outputs.

This track is for students who like to study about human behaviour, culture, society, art, economic and history. The following are the possible job for HUMSS students:

Teacher, Lawyer, Psychologist, Author / Editor, Politician, Criminologist, Journalist, Criminologist, Police, New Anchor, Archaeologist, College Professor, Consultant, Cultural Anthropologist, Editor/Writer, Geologist, Historian, Linguistic Anthropologist, Museum Curator, Park Interpreter, Physical Anthropologist, Oceanographer, and Statistician.

GAS is for learners who are not yet decided on what course to take in college.It is just a guide point in the lives of students to help them make up their mind with what they really want to be once they had entered the adult life. The students that wanted to pursue a major in college related to education are to be place in this strand.

This track gives you more time and chance to choose what you really like to pursue in college. The following are the possible jobs for GAS students:

Bachelor in Secondary Education ( BSED ), Bachelor of Elementary Education ( BEE ), Applied Ecomomics ( financing, secretary,manager etc ), and BSBA operations management. 

These strands in the academic track give a student an idea of what they wanted to pursue in college. If a student has already a decision on what he/she wanted to take in SHS, then it is a good thing. A student must already have a decision to make so that they can be able to know what is their strength and weaknesses. Before, I was afraid to enter SHS because I heard from our sisters and brothers back then that it was so difficult. They are correct but engaging with its different concept, I was able to adjust and love the ambiance of my strand and I am practicing loving it. I didn't regret that I get the STEM strand because it helps me a lot. It helps me in my journey. It helps me to think what is the best course that I will take in college.
